Riccardo, founder
I was always drawn to where art and engineering meet. I picked up my father's passion for motorsport. My grandfather had a thing for mechanical pocket watches.
The similarities between the two still fascinate me: engineering pushed to what seems an unreasonable limit, yet transformed into beauty through balance and proportion.
Both are ways for humans to express themselves through the interpretation of time. In motorsport, time is something to beat. In watchmaking, time is something to celebrate. Their gestures and rituals bring humans back to the present.
MONS is my attempt to put that feeling on a wrist.
Why MONS
That attempt was tested before it worked.
The first launch didn't work.
That told me what to fix, not whether to stop.
The desire was still there, pulsing.
Marcus Aurelius said:
"What stands in the way,
becomes the way."
When I came back to it, the project had a new soul. MONS. Latin for mountain.
Not a destination to reach. Not a hardship to endure. A journey you choose, to become who you want to be.
